Dr. Stasch participated actively in a project at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), together with his colleague surgeons (Kenyan Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons).
Together, they conducted yearly pro bono operations for needy patients with deformities, birth defects and post-traumatic wounds. Dr. Stasch also succeeded in fundraising to collect donations to support patients and running of the project, as well as bringing medical instruments, equipment and medical consumables from Germany.
Patients were admitted to the Kenyatta National Hospital with different surgical conditions requiring extensive and sometimes complicated reconstructive surgery. These conditions include facial malformations, contractures after burn injuries, chronically infected and open wounds, as well as disfigurements from tumors or trauma.
In order to allow these patients to live a life as normal as possible, disfigurements are corrected through plastic and reconstructive surgical procedures, to restore form and to improve function.
